We currently don't have shipping prices entered for physical rewards in BackerKit. We plan to wait until closer to fulfillment to enter &charge you for the physical items on your survey to get the most accurate/fair fulfillment prices. We will update backers after entering those shipping prices before we charge you in BackerKit.

Production status and unexpected shipping delay

Hi Backers.
As of yesterday, all fulfillment companies we've been contacting refused to support us. Last company sounded somewhat promising but at last minute they turned us down.
There are couple of reasons behind this. Products using magnets are classified as dangerous goods and fulfillment companies have to take responsibility if there is issue. Some of them told us it's doable and asked us to send final packaged models to test whether it meets IATA 953(magnetized material with field strengths causing a compass deflection of less than 2 degrees at a distance of 2.1 m). We were confident because we've been getting mock up models from Factory without any problems. The other issue was sorting and packing. Half of them backed off because of this reason.
After all none of them wanted to take risk even though we passed freight regulation and they told us that only way to ship is by the sea which will take up to 6 to 8 weeks to be delivered.
We are really sorry for this unexpected delay since some of you wanted to buy them as Christmas gifts for your loved ones.
After thanksgiving we will reach out to fulfillment companies to discuss about shipping by the sea options.
We might ship all to US by the sea and ship to you directly ourselves by air. This way we can sort and pack one by one and make sure all are shipped properly.
Production status
Lab tests was done and passed international toy standards. Pickagram is officially safe for 3+ to play with.
Deck of cards design is done. It's basically 52 cards front and back with 26 challenges. They are categorized by 13 cards of dots, lines, shapes and solids. I will update once I get the cards.
Updated schedule
Pickagram is expected to delivered to you by sometime in March.
We are really sorry with this update and will do our best to make meet updated schedule.

Hi Pickagramers!
Finally tooling is done and I got the very first mass production models shipped from factory.
There are some adjustments to be made but I think it's 90% there!
There have been unexpected huddles a long the way.
To name a few,
Passing toy standard(Magnetic toys are strictly tested).
Finding right fulfillment company and pass air shipping standard(Products with strong magnetic force are not allowed to ship by air).
Unstable material cost especially magnet costs(learned that EV car industry is driving it).
and on and on and on....
Thanks to you, we were able to make it this far and give birth to Pickagram!

2. Reference products and what to expect
Since Pickagram is a very unique product, you might be wondering how it will feel.
I can share with you some popular products I referenced while I developed Pickagram.

In order to make self rotating magnet system, we are using 58 of custom N42 magnets. It's driving more than 1/3 of the product cost. We found sweet spot to make competitive product in the market. If you have Magna Tiles, that's about the strength you will feel.
-Color
We are benchmarking Lego colors!
- Detail
There is a product called Trido(https://www.trido.uk/).
It's basically magnetized block inspired by platonic solids. They won the reddot award this year.
Not like lego, they have satin finish and have more premium feeling. They are more than twice expensive but we are trying to match the quality.
3. Schedule
Nov 4 - Finalize collecting add-ons
Nov 8 - Mass production start
Nov 24 - Inspection
Nov 30 - ready to be shipped
Before Christmas - The first ever Pickagrams will be on your hands.
While production is on the way, we are working on finalizing shipping related costs. There are still a couple hundred backers who haven't provided shipping address. As mentioned from previous update, you don't need to put credit card info and finish the survey. All we need is your shipping address so that we can calculate and share the amount with you. We will start to send emails to the backers who need to submit shipping address info.
Next update will be related to packaging and card design along with shipping cost info!

Hey Pickagramers!
I had an hour meeting with Backerkit to make thinks clear and this is what I learned.
1. Survey is intended to collect add-ons and shipping address. This way we can get weight to calculate shipping cost and VAT.
2. You don't need to submit credit card info at this point. Backerkit set it up this way by default to make things easy and fast. Also to make it clear, you are not getting charged until next survey which will be closer to end of November with shipping cost and VAT.
3. For shipping, I'm comparing 2 scenarios. I'm still working on to find what works best.
One - using fulfillment company.
Pros - Guaranteed to be shipped professionally.
Cons - Could cost more and might need to collect VAT in advance.
Two - ship everything to US and I ship them.
Pros - Could be cheaper.
Cons - I will do my best to ship but might take more time for international shipping.
4. For VAT, I have 2 Scenarios as well. I will have these options for you to select from next survey.
Please finish up the survey so that we can move forward!
I will keep communicate will you all until last backer gets Pickagram.

PS. This is our fulfillment manager's wording.
"There's some confusion about why backers enter their credit cards if they don't owe money now. BackerKit's system is built to collect credit card payments from backers when they complete their survey for the first time. BackerKit collects payment information upfront, which results better than asking backers to come back to their survey to provide that information, which can delay their shipment.
Due to the volatility of shipping & VAT prices globally right now, these fees for this project will be calculated later once we have the best shipping & VAT estimates for backers.
We will alert backers when shipping & VAT costs are finalized & before they charge backer's cards in their BackerKit survey.
If you are okay with this, you can complete your survey, but if you prefer to wait until shipping costs are finalized to input your payment information, that is no problem. To avoid delays, backers who wait must enter their payment information promptly once shipping & VAT fees are added.
On another note, some EU backers have been asking why they have to pay VAT for this project when they didn't pay VAT for their previous project. VAT rules have changed significantly in the past year or two. Previously projects didn't have to collect VAT because it was an option, but now it's becoming more of a requirement if the project is EU Friendly, allowing backers to pay the VAT before receiving their rewards.
Once again, shipping and VAT will be entered later on. We'll alert you after entering the fees and before charging them.

BackerKit surveys are coming!
By end of the week, you’ll receive an email from us with a special link to your BackerKit survey. It’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we need this information to fulfill your rewards. Please keep in mind that this Survey is intended to collect your shipping address and additional pledges so that we can get total weight of the package and address to be sent to each of you. When Pickagram is ready to be shipped we will send out another survey to inform you with shipping costs including vat and customs fees since the rate is changing time to time.
You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences, provide shipping information, and purchase add-on items if you like. You don’t have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email!
After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses at any time before we close the surveys and get our final counts.
